What Is Bedliner?

Bedliners are protective mattings that are provided to keep the surface protected against everything. Bedliners are especially suitable for luggage vehicles as while loading and unloading there is a risk of scratches and denting on the surface. Bedliners can be of various types depending on the protection you seek and the price you pay.

  • Bed Mats: These are the most inexpensive of all the options available and provide basic protection to the surface. These are the regular heavy duty rubbers that provide some cushioning and protect against denting and scratches. These are laid on the surface and can be customized as per the shape of your vehicle. These don't protect the sidewalls, and hence the danger persists.
  • Bedrugs: These are similar to mats but are more like carpet and help absorb shocks more and provide a better cushioning. To help increase the vehicle's aesthetic appearance these can be chosen from lots of colour options and sizes available.
  • Spray-On: These require preparation of the surface, and proper curing must be done to set for longer durability. Amongst all the types available, these are pretty expensive and how well it is done allows to keep denting and scratching in check. It looks very good and can be matched with the colour of your vehicle and provides all-round protection.
  • Drop-In: As the name suggests, these are just laid on the bed surface and provides good overall-protection. It allows easy cleaning and removal and needs no preparation of the surface. These can also be customized as per the need.

While you choose which one will be good for your trucks, first of all, few qualities should be kept in mind.

  • Water-Resistant: The bedliners should not allow water to seep in. If there is a scratch already present, then it might lead to rusting. So, a good liner should not allow this.
  • UV-Protection: In open trucks, the surface might get heated and affected due to the sun's harmful rays. So, a good liner should be able to resist these rays from harming your vehicle.

These properties help ensure that you are buying the right product and are not compromising your vehicle's safety. For long-life and a good return value of your vehicle, one should always protect the bed surface using the bedliners.
