Dust Extractor: The Types and Things to Consider Before Buying It

Excessive dust at our workplace or home can cause serious health hazards. A dust extractor not only improves the quality of air but also protects our machineries. The dust extraction machine collects the dust and other form of impurities of air emerging from the industrial and commercial processes. It enables us to get a dust free working environment. Thus, apart from ensuring the safety of the machineries, our health risks also curb to a huge extent. There are various kinds of dust extraction systems available in the market. We can check the features of the machines and then buy the best one.

Types of Dust Extractors:

Dust Extractor
Considering the basic feature of the dust extractor, it can be classified into two broad categories- The coarse dust or chip extractor and the fine filter extractor. Now we will discuss about the features of these machines in brief.

  • The chip extractor / Coarse dust extractor - A centrifugal fan is inserted into the chip extractor or coarse dust extractor for drawing air with the help of the inlet pipe. Then the air containing dust particles pass through the fan blades and get stored into the collection bag. The performance of the machines depends on the diameter of the pipes and the coarseness of the filter bag. The inlet pipes smaller than 100mm causes the rapid reduction in the performance of the machine itself.  If you have a large workshop located in such an area where excessive noise is not an issue for you then opt for this kind of dust extractor. Even a smaller chip extractor emits large amount of warm air and therefore mounting it outside the work area under a shade is a better idea.
  • Fine filter extractor - This filter extractor work alike the domestic vacuum cleaners but draws lower volume of air. A fine filter is used to filter out the smaller to smaller dust particles. They are compatible with narrow power tools as they work on higher air pressure.
  • Other types - Apart from these two types of dust extractor, vacuum cleaner can be used in case of a small plants with heavy machinery. Fine dusts caused by cyclones can also be dealt with fine machineries. There are power tool extractors too which sucks the dust automatically after the turning on of the power button.

Things to Consider Before Buying A Dust Collector:

Dust Extractor
We have already spoken about the features and types of dust collecting machines. Now we will talk about the things which we need to consider before buying a dust collector for our workplace:

  • Capacity - The amount of work that the dust extractor requires to perform has to be taken into consideration before buying it.
  • Power - The air volume pulling capacity in a dust collecting machine denotes the power of the same. Check the power capacity that you need for your office.
  • Cost - Compare the prices of various models of dust collectors and then buy the one that suits your budget.
  • Quality - The quality of the product should never be compromised under any circumstances and buying a quality product will offer you uninterrupted services for a long tenure.
  • Size - Based on your requirements you can select a large, medium or small size extracting machine for your workplace.

It can be concluded by saying that choose the right kind of a dust removing machinery for your work place and stay tension free. A good dust extractor is invaluable for saving your time and money but since dust extracting needs and scenarios are different for different workplaces, the machine should be chosen wisely.
